Bio

I first joined the BMC in 1968 as an athlete and ran a PB one mile in one of the Trafford Tuesday evening meets. During the following years more PBs followed in BMC competitions and I knew for certain that the BMC was a very special organisation.
As a coach I have brought many athletes through from novice level to be UK National Champions over 800m, 1500m and 5k and selection at five Olympic Games. BMC competitions have been vital to the progress of all of them.
Over the years I have organised the Wythenshawe and Sportcity BMC GP’s and was the UK National Event Coach for 800m/1500m during 1990 – 97. During this period I worked hard along with the BMC to integrate the BMC competition and coach education programmes with the National Strategy. Within the BMC we continue to work on these essential relationships, and our programme of events, to maintain and further develop UK middle distance and endurance standards.
